Fake University: The University Grants Commission has recently published a list of 21 fake universities and has asked students, parents to be more careful while taking admission in any institution in the field of higher education. Several institutions in this list claim to offer degrees in specific subjects, but are not registered with the University Grants Commission. Such institutes often tempt students to take admission in degree courses in various streams, but due to lack of proper registration (Fake University), students face problems in future employment. Academic and infrastructural standards as per UGC norms are not met in these institutions.
There is no regulation of such bogus universities, and in many cases unwitting students waste time and money in these institutions. UGC has therefore advised the students to check all the information on the website of the institution before taking admission and check whether the institution has approval before taking admission. The UGC has also observed that only those universities registered under the UGC Act 1956 have the right to grant degrees in India.
Earlier, in May 2024, UGC had published such a list of fake universities, this time there has been no change in that list. This list has come up again on social media. Which institutions are in this list?
