4 months have passed since he left the country. The picture of Bangladesh has changed radically since August 5. All traces of Hasina era have been erased one by one. The statue of Bangabandhu Mujibur was demolished. Extremist leaders of Bangladesh intend to remove all the architecture from his monumental building. It is in this situation that Victory Day is observed. The birth day of independent Bangladesh was celebrated in different parts of Bangladesh including Dhaka.
On this day, Awami League posted the statement of the ousted Prime Minister of Bangladesh on the X handle. It is said there, ‘The Bengali nation achieved final victory on this day in 1971 through 23 years of long political struggle and 9 months of bloody Great Liberation War, responding to the call of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest Bengali of all time. ’The Awami League won an absolute
majority in the whole of Pakistan in the general elections of the 70s. But the Pakistanis did not allow the Bengali nation to come to power….Awami League has always upheld the spirit of the liberation war and worked to bring the benefits of freedom to the doorsteps of the people….but where is that Bangladesh today? Anti-national groups illegally and unconstitutionally seized state power through domestic and foreign conspiracies. This undemocratic group led by fascist Yunus has no responsibility towards the people. They are holding power and obstructing all public welfare work….People of the country are suffering from the shock of rising commodity prices. Hungry people pick food from dustbin and eat. As these governments are not democratically elected, they have no accountability to the people. Their main aim is to suppress the spirit of the liberation war and the pro-liberation forces and suppress their voice. On the contrary, they are giving covert support to anti-independence radical-communal forces…. And I believe that the spirit of the great liberation war will remain bright from generation to generation through struggle, struggle and retention. Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu, long live Bangladesh.’
And on the same day, Hasina’s son Sajib Wazed posted a sharp sneer at the current interim government in Bangladesh on the X handle. Hasina’s son wrote, ‘During the war of independence. Descendants of war criminals who carried out mass killings in collusion with the Pakistan Army are today in the vicinity of the illegitimate government. The elders who played a glorious role in the liberation war are being physically attacked, ‘Joy Bangla’ Slogans have been treated as a crime, symbols carrying the spirit of the liberation war are being destroyed without hindrance. Freedom fighters are being deprived of state honors and are also being prevented from paying respects to our best children. Pakistan still refuses to apologize for one of the most brutal genocides in history, while this illegitimate government continues to try to bring the country closer to Pakistan to erase the bloody chapter of the country’s freedom struggle. Planned violence is being carried out to destroy the party fighting for freedom, flag, sovereignty and mother tongue. However, in the last five decades, the allies of the war criminals took over the state power and made a similar conspiracy. But the people of this country forgot all the differences and united and defeated this evil power. On this Victory Day, my call is to forget all differences, unite and stand against well-planned attempts to destroy the very spirit of freedom. Joy Bangla!’
