Mohammad Tajul Islam, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal of Bangladesh, said on Sunday that Interpol’s red notice has been issued against Sheikh Hasina. One such news broke. However, Tajul Islam said, Bangladesh Police’s branch National Central Bureau or NCB and Ministry of Home Affairs can provide information about this. The prescribed form regarding issuance of red notice against Sheikh Hasina has been filled and forwarded to NCB through a letter. Besides, if the investigation against Sheikh Hasina is completed within 3 months, the main trial process will begin.
Mohammad Tajul Islam said, Bangladesh Police’s branch NCB looks after all matters of Interpol. On November 13, I filled the prescribed form regarding the issuance of red notice against Sheikh Hasina from the Chief Prosecutor’s office and forwarded it to this NCB organization of the police through a letter. NCB is responsible for the remaining work of issuing red notice against Sheikh Hasina. So it is NCB’s responsibility to tell Interpol whether a red notice has been issued against Sheikh Hasina. We are not able to clearly say about the issue of red notice, whether it is issued through them or whether it is on Interpol’s website. If we know anything about this later, we will let you know.
The chief prosecutor said that it is a matter of the state to take Hasina back to India. There is an extradition treaty with India, under which the state has to take decisions on the repatriation of criminals. We have sent the information to the government. The government can say when it will formally ask India how or if it has already asked. We don’t know that.
