In a statement after the incident, the Kremlin said, “(President) Vladimir Putin apologizes for the tragic accident that occurred in Russian airspace. Once again, he expresses his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.” The Kremlin also said, “Interviews revealed that the Azerbaijani passenger plane was on schedule. It was repeatedly trying to land at Gronji airport. At that time, Ukrainian drones attacked Gronji, Mazdok and Vladikavkaz and were retaliated by Russian air defense systems.”
Debate has been raging for the past few days whether the plane carrying passengers crashed or was brought down by a missile. Azerbaijan Airlines opened its mouth in that situation.
