NCERT To Cut Book Prices from 2025 for Class 9

NCERT Books: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCRT) has announced that the price of textbooks in NCRT will come down significantly from next year for several classes. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan (NCERT) said this on Tuesday. A total of 5 crore textbooks are printed on behalf of the council in a year, the Union Minister said that 15 crore books will be printed on behalf of this council from next year. At the same time he (NCERT Books) also said that instead of the current books, a completely new book will come in 2026, the appearance of books will change. Will the syllabus change?

The Union Education Minister said that the students of Class IX to XII will get the new textbooks by 2026. These new books will be given to the students based on the completely new syllabus for the academic year 2026-27. That means NCRT will change the syllabus from two years. Dharmendra Pradhan told the media, “NCRT will print 15 crore quality affordable textbooks from the next academic year, now only 5 crore textbooks are printed by this council. Earlier there was a thought about demand and supply of textbooks every year which will be solved from the next academic year.

He also said that since books are going to be printed in large numbers, the price of certain classes of books will come down considerably. However, the prices of these books will not be increased in the future so that there is no financial pressure on the parents. Basically, the work of updating the textbooks in accordance with the National Curricular Framework has already started. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that new textbooks will be prepared in this way for the academic year 2026-27.

NCERT came under fire for distorting history in textbooks. It is alleged that caste and caste systems have been left out of the equation in Indian society. The name of Harappan civilization is changed to ‘Indus-Sarasvati civilization’ in textbooks. Earlier, the chapter on the Ayodhya dispute has been cut down to two pages. Besides, the name of Babri Masjid is not mentioned anywhere. Instead of Agagora Babri Masjid, ‘three-domed structure’ is written. There is a strong movement across the country to change this curriculum.
