G 24 Hours Digital Bureau: In 2020, the Bangladesh High Court’s bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan and Justice KM Kamrul Quader made the slogan ‘Joy Bangla’ the national slogan. A case was filed in the court. Now, in that case, the Bangladesh government has applied to suspend the High Court’s verdict declaring ‘Joy Bangla’ as the national slogan.

On Monday, Additional Attorney General Aneek R Haque said that next Sunday, December 8, the application will come on the agenda of the Appellate Division for hearing.
It is to be noted that on March 10, 2020, the High Court bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan and Justice KM Kamrul Quader gave a verdict declaring Jai Bangla as the national slogan. “We declare that Jai Bangla shall be the national slogan of Bangladesh,” the court said in part of the verdict order given in Bengali. In 2017, the lawyer of the Supreme Court asked to declare ‘Joy Bangla’ as the national slogan. After the hearing of Bashir Ahmed’s writ, the High Court gave the verdict.
On February 20, 2022, Sheikh Hasina’s cabinet approved the decision to recognize ‘Joy Bangla’ as the national slogan.
