New Delhi: India further declines in World Passport Index. India dropped from 80th to 85th place. That is, India remained behind in the list of the most powerful passports in the world. The strength of a country’s passport depends on the number of countries that can be visited without a visa with that passport. Henley Passport Index 2025 has published a new list of passports of 199 countries. (Most Powerful Passports)
The list of strongest passports is compiled based on information received from the International Air Transport Association. Singapore in Asia is at the top of that list this year. With a Singapore passport, you can travel to 227 countries in the world without a visa. In second place is another Asian country, Japan. Their passports allow visa-free entry to 193 countries. France, Germany, Italy and Spain from the European Union topped the list of strongest passports in 2024. They are now down to third place. Finland and Korea are also in third place. Their passports allow visa-free entry into 192 countries.
The fourth place is also strongly contested. There are Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden in fourth place. Their passports allow visa-free entry into 191 countries. In fifth place are Belgium, Portugal, Switzerland, Britain and New Zealand. 190 countries can travel visa-free with their passports. Britain, which once occupied the top spot, has fallen far.
India is ranked 85th in the list. An Indian passport allows you to visit 57 countries without a visa. Equatorial Guinea and Niger are at 85th place with India. The most improved in the list is the United Arab Emirates. They have reached the 10th place from the 32nd place in the list. With their passport, 185 countries can travel without a visa. America dropped to ninth place. Once they were in second place.
Pakistan and Yemen are ranked 103rd. Their passports allow visa-free travel to 33 countries. Iraq is next, with visa-free entry to 31 countries. The list includes Syria and Afghanistan respectively. Their passports allow visa-free entry to 27 and 26 countries respectively.
