But for some unknown reason, the rail communication service of the two countries is still suspended! But there is good news. It is known that no train is canceled daily. However, as no rake has returned from Bangladesh for now, the India Bangladesh train service has been cancelled.

In a notice issued by the Chief Public Relations Officer of Eastern Railway today, November 21, the concerned railway authorities said that due to uncertainty in getting rakes, 13107 Dhaka-Kolkata Maitri Express, 13108 Kolkata-Dhaka Maitri Express, 13109 Kolkata will remain temporarily canceled until further notice. -Dhaka Maitri Express, 13110 Dhaka-Kolkata Maitri Express, 13129 Kolkata-Khulna Bandhan Express and 13130 Khulna-Kolkata Bandhan Express.
Kolkata-Dhaka Maitri Express closed from July 19. Kolkata-Khulna Bandhan Express closed from July 20. Trains on these two routes were stopped in July at the request of Bangladesh Railways. Common low or middle class people of the two countries are in difficulty, who cannot afford to travel by air, while bus travel is difficult for patients. Even in the third week of November, there was no update on this until yesterday. But today, on November 21, this new notification came. So that it was known, the train will run only when the rake returns.
Every day hundreds of thousands of people from Bangladesh used to come to Kolkata by train to get treatment at the city’s private hospital. A parallel ‘medical tourism’ developed across the Eastern Bypass-Lagoa several private hospitals.
Equally important is the financial loss to the railways. All the infrastructure at the Kolkata terminal, including immigration counter scanners, has been lying down for months. However, Railways is refunding the ticket price of about lakhs of rupees in Indian currency per train in Bandhan and Maitri Express sector every day. Eastern Railway has so far refunded the ticket money of all the passengers of more than 100 trains, counting only the number of trains.
Eastern Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer Kaushik Mitra, who is in charge of operating the two trains from Kolkata station, had earlier said that the Indian Railway Board alone cannot run the two trains at will. Because, firstly, the train crosses two international borders. Secondly, although the two train rakes are the property of Indian Railways, when the train reaches the border from Khulna or Dhaka, the duty is done by Bangladesh Railways employees. As a result the operation of this train is not possible without joint consent.

Samjhota Express has also been run between India and Pakistan several times. Many times the service has been stopped or restarted due to strained relations between the two neighboring countries. But every opening or closing was preceded by a formal announcement. But bonds and alliances are an exception. Officially, that is, the two trains are still in operation in the government books. As a result, we have to depend on the notification or instructions sent by Bangladesh Railway every day. Then it is being told from the other side that the service should be announced on such and such date.
Eastern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Kaushik Mitra further informed that the Kolkata-Dhaka Maitri Express operates 5 days a week; Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri and Sat. Kolkata-Khulna Bandhan serves 2 days a week; Sunday and Thursday.
