The interim government will give 1.7 million allowances to the country’s 3 lakh mosques. Initially Imam can make 5000, Muazzin 4000 and Khadem 3000. Initially, this program will be launched in 10 percent of the country’s mosques in the first phase. Later the rest of the mosques will also get that benefit.

The Islamic Foundation is preparing a list of mosques across the country to give allowance. A committee of 7 members has been formed for this. According to the decision of the 2024 District Administrator Conference, Imams, Muezzins and Khadems of religious institutions will be given allowances from the government under social security to modernize the mosque management system and according to the decision of the 2024 District Administrators Conference, it has been said in the office order of the committee. The secretary of the organization, Mohammad Ismail Hossain, has been made the head of the committee.

The head of the committee Mohammad Ismail Hossain told the media that there are at least 350,000 mosques in the country. There are more than 1.7 million imams and muezzins in these mosques. Apart from this, there are Khadim in the mosques of the city. The government will experimentally bring 10 percent of the country’s mosque imams and muajjims under this program in the first phase. Under this project, each mosque will be given 12,000 taka.

According to the Ministry of Religion of Bangladesh, imam-muzajjin as well as temple priests and other religious persons will also be brought under this allowance.
