Airport Executive Director Kamrul Islam has sent guidelines to all airlines and airport related parties of Bangladesh. According to the special directive of the airport authority, according to the directives of the disease control branch of the Health Department of Bangladesh, everyone related to the airport should take precautionary measures regarding HMPV. But there is nothing to panic about the matter for now. Airport passengers, staff and visitors are all encouraged to wear face masks and use hand sanitizer. If anyone has symptoms of HMPV such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, they should report it to the airport health service immediately.
Domestic and foreign airlines at Bangladesh airports should also take precautionary measures in bringing passengers from their respective locations and from countries where there are HMPV-infected patients. In case of symptoms of HMPV such as fever, cough in anyone inside the aircraft, it should be reported to the airport health service immediately.
Airline crew and passengers are instructed to familiarize themselves with health guidelines on how to handle patients with HMPV on board. In addition, the letter asked to follow the 7 instructions issued by the Health Department of Bangladesh.
Sources from the Bangladesh Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) told G24H Bangladesh Correspondent that the person infected with HMPV in Bangladesh is a woman, whose village home is in Bhairab area of Kishoreganj, Bangladesh.
At the beginning of January this year, the first infection was detected in China, an East Asian country. Then the virus was detected in Japan. HMPV outbreaks have now spread to Malaysia and India.
Experts claim that HMPV has been in Bangladesh since 2001. Even humans have developed enough antibodies against this virus. That is why there is nothing to fear about this virus like the coronavirus.
According to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), this virus was first detected in the world in 2001. But experts say that this virus may have existed in the world for many more ages. Some say that the disease has been around since 1958.
According to the CDC, anyone exposed to this virus can develop illnesses such as bronchitis or pneumonia. But so far it has been more common in children, elderly people and people with weakened immune systems.
Meanwhile, an official of the Bangladesh Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research, who did not want to be named, told G24H Bangladesh correspondent that we have received a report of HMPV infection in a woman’s body. He is also infected with Klebsiella pneumoniae along with HMPV. He is under treatment at Dhaka Infectious Disease Hospital. As far as I know, his physical condition is slightly better than before.
He said that he was infected in Bangladesh as he had no history of foreign travel. It is very normal. Human Metapneumovirus has been present in Bangladesh for a long time. So there is nothing to panic about it.
