G 24 Hours Digital Bureau: Adani Group is getting hit one after another. Adani Enterprises lost two big contracts again this time. Gautam Adani and some of his associates were charged in the US federal court in New York on Wednesday. Then on Thursday, the United States issued an arrest warrant against Adani and his relative Sagar Adani. That is why anti-Adani campaigning is going on in Netpara in Kenya. Several hashtags like #StopAdani, #ArrestAdani, #StopAdaniDeal and #AdaniMustGo are trending in Kenya X.

Incidentally, the Kenyan government was supposed to work with Adani Energy Solutions Limited and Adani Airport Holdings Limited. A deal worth around $2.5 billion was signed. But those two contracts fell through. The Kenyan president made such a decision after one of India’s richest man, Gautam Adani, was accused of bribery and fraud in the United States. This decision was announced by the country’s President William Ruto in his address to the nation in the Kenyan Parliament on Thursday.

Ruto said in his own speech, “If there is concrete evidence or credible information about corruption, I will not hesitate to take strong action.” The first deal to be canceled was worth about $200 million. Among these were the construction of a second runway at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and the Adani Group getting control of the airport for 30 years in exchange for upgrading the passenger terminal.

The second contract was for the construction of power transmission lines. The $73.6 million deal was signed last month. The proposal for the airport project in Kenya was submitted by the Adani Group last March. The Adani Group denied the US allegations and said it would take ‘all legal action’. However, Adani Group has not yet commented on the Kenyan government’s decision to cancel the contract.
