It is known that 78 Bangladeshis entered the Indian waters with two fishing trawlers named MV Meghna and MV Laila. On December 9, they were arrested and kept in Paradwip, Odisha. Another 12 fishermen were detained in September when their trawler sank in Indian waters. They were kept at Kakdwip near Calcutta.

On the other hand, six Indian trawlers entered Bangladeshi waters in September and October and were detained at Patuakhali and Bagerhat. It is said that the complications related to violation of the International Boundary Act by the fishermen have been resolved.
