Salim Reza Dhaka: Dhaka International Film Festival is starting in Bangladesh. The 23rd edition of the festival is going to start in Dhaka from January 11 under the initiative of the Rainbow Film Council. The festival will continue till January 19.

Festival director Ahmed Mujtaba Jamal Shobon told a press conference at Dhaka Club that the opening ceremony of the festival will be held on Saturday, January 11 at 4 pm. It will be organized in the main auditorium of the National Museum, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Government of Bangladesh. Nahid Islam will attend the opening ceremony as the chief guest. Ambassador of China to Bangladesh H.E. Yao Wen and Zhu Yang, Director of International Department of China Film Administration.

Jalal Ahmed, Chairman of Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission and Executive Committee member of Dhaka International Film Festival will preside over the event.
Like every year, this year too hundreds of films from Bangladesh including Bangladesh will be screened in the Asian Competition Section, Retrospective Section, Bangladesh Panorama, Wide Angle, Cinema of the World, Children’s Film, Spiritual Faith, Short and Independent Film and Women’s Film Section. Various seminars will be organized. Along with the star artists-producers of Bangladesh, the people of cinema from different countries will be present to participate in it.

Meanwhile, no delegates from India are coming to the festival. But there are 4 pictures of India. The Indian films that Dhaka audiences will be able to watch are director Shamik Roy Chowdhury’s ‘Beeline’, director Jatla Siddharth’s ‘In the Belly of a Tiger’, director Srijit Mukherjee’s ‘Infantry’, director Abhilash Sharma’s ‘Swaha’, director Ujjwal Paul’s ‘Clark’.

In the festival, the films will be displayed in the main auditorium of the National Museum of Dhaka and the Kavi Sufia Kamal auditorium, the National Chitrashala and Dance Hall of the Shilpakala Academy of Dhaka, the Alliance Française auditorium of Dhaka.
