Salim Reza and Mohammad Ali Sumon Dhaka: After more than 6 hours in Segunbagicha of the capital Dhaka, the fire in building number 7 of the Bangladesh Secretariat, the administrative center, has been brought under control. 20 engines of Bangladesh Fire Service worked to control the fire. Bangladesh Fire Service official Shahjahan Sikderji told 24 Hours Bangladesh Representative that the fire was brought under control at 8:05 am on Thursday.

At 1:52 PM, the Bangladesh Fire Service received the news of a fire in the building of the Secretariat. After a couple of minutes, the fire service unit located in the secretariat started the work of controlling the fire. As the intensity of the fire increased, 19 units of the fire service joined the firefighting operation one by one.
Going to the spot after five in the morning, it was seen that the fire was burning from one end to the other end of building number seven of the secretariat. Flames are visible from outside. Police and members of the Bangladesh Army are assisting the Bangladesh Fire Service in controlling the fire. After the fire broke out in the initial stages, the number of police and army personnel was increased. After that BGB members were deployed in the secretariat area.
Meanwhile, in a briefing on Thursday morning, Director General of Bangladesh Fire Service Brigadier General Zaheed Kamal said at the scene, Bangladesh Fire Service worker Sohanuzzaman Nayan was injured by a truck while crossing the road to connect the water line from the pump. Doctors declared him dead after taking him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Another firefighter was injured with a leg cut. But his condition is not serious.
When asked to know the cause of the fire, the Director General of Bangladesh Fire Service told reporters that it has not yet been possible to know. The matter will be known later in the investigation. In response to a question, he said that they have not been able to know whether there has been any casualty inside the building.
Director General of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense Directorate said that eight and nine floors were the most damaged in the fire in Bangladesh Secretariat. The documents there were damaged by fire.
Meanwhile, it is said that there are several ministries in the building number 7 of the Bangladesh Secretariat where the fire broke out. According to the preliminary information, it is known that this building has – Ministry of Water Resources of Bangladesh; Ministry of Youth and Sports; Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology; Department of Posts and Telecommunications; Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Department of Local Government, Department of Rural Development and Cooperatives; Ministry of Labor and Employment; Ministry of Finance, Department of Finance, Department of Financial Institutions, Department of Internal Resources; Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, Department of Road Transport and Highways.
