People have lost lakhs of rupees by clicking on fake websites, fake links. However, this time a case of cyber fraud has come to light by duplicating the app of the popular government scheme (Kisan Yojana App). A case of looting lakhs of rupees through a fake app called Pradhan Mantri Kishan Yojana has been caught in Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu Police has already issued a warning in this regard. Anyone who downloads this fake app on his smartphone will empty his bank account.
How to cheat
Hackers and fraudsters steal important and sensitive information from your phone through these fake apps. Hackers access all banking information and OTP messages that come to your phone. Besides, fraudsters also steal information like your Aadhaar number, PAN card number and date of birth. After knowing all this information register your phone number for UPI payment. And withdraw money from your bank account.
Misuse of government schemes
Fraudsters gain people’s trust in the name of government schemes and then cheat them. Financial losses are common people. Fraudsters are stealing Aadhaar, PAN and other information from people through fake websites. Then they are looting money from bank accounts using UPI. Many people have been cheated by this app. This is what the cyber crime branch of the Tamil Nadu Police has said. They also informed that complaints have already been filed against illegal and unregulated bank transactions, UPI transactions, transactions through Phone Pay app. In the month of November alone, 7 complaints were filed on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal where many said money was withdrawn from their bank accounts using PhonePay UPI without their permission.
