G 24 Hours Digital Bureau: The Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Court has ordered the jail custody of Chinmoy Das Brahmachari, who was arrested on charges of sedition. Judge Kazi Shariful Islam ordered to send Chinmoy Das to jail custody. Hundreds of people gathered in the court premises before the appearance of Chinmoy Das in the court. Jai Shriram slogans were also raised. After hearing the verdict, the court premises took on the appearance of a battlefield. The police prison van was held up by the protestors for about three hours.

When Chinmoy was taken out of the court premises, the clash started. Police tried to bring the situation under control by bursting tear gas cells and lathi charge. Just then the angry crowd dispersed and left the court premises and gathered in front of Rangam Convention Hall. After that, the crowd started throwing bricks. The police chased. The crowd chased back. Many were seriously injured. The injured were admitted to Chittagong Medical College. Government lawyer Saiful Islam Alif died there.
Apart from Chittagong Medical Hospital, 19 people were admitted to Chittagong General Hospital due to the clash in Laldighi. However, all of these 19 people are out of danger, said hospital supervisor Abdul Mannan.
After the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, Chinmoy Krishna Das was speaking as the spokesperson of the Hindus in the 8-point demand against the attacks on the minorities across the country. On the night of October 30, a sedition case was filed against 19 people at the Kotyali police station in Chittagong after a public meeting at Laldighi ground in Chittagong on October 25. The Sanatani Jagran Manch also announced a long march in Dhaka to demand the withdrawal of this case. Later that program was suspended. Chinmoy is accused of insulting the national flag of Bangladesh at the Independence Pillar at Newmarket intersection in Chittagong.
