The DISCO Group’s publication “Banyan: Fast Rotating Leader BFT” won the Best Paper Award at Middleware 2024. The paper shows how to reduce the latency of modern blockchain protocols.
When it comes to online services, latency is a critical aspect of the user experience. While centralized applications – such as Mastercard, Visa and Twint – offer services that are almost instantaneous to use, their decentralized counterparts often experience noticeable delays, sometimes lasting minutes or even hours (as in the case of Bitcoin).
Banyan [*] addresses this challenge by introducing a rapid process that allows blockchain blocks to be transferred with only two message delays. This can help reduce the latency commonly associated with modern blockchain protocols.
Congratulations!
