Commercial power generation started from the first unit of Adani’s power plant in April 2021. Commercial production started from the second unit in June of the same year.
In fact, an agreement was signed between the then Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina and the Adani group in the 21st. According to that agreement, Bangladesh will be supplied to Bangladesh for 20 years from Adani’s thermal power plant in Jharkhand. On October 7, due to the foreign exchange crisis, Adani reduced the power supply to Bangladesh due to the delay in paying. As a result, a unit was closed on November 7, so only 12 percent of the center was operated. Later, the government of Bangladesh ordered the supply of half power to the exchange.
Meanwhile, the interim government of Bangladesh accused Adani of violating the power purchase agreement against Adani. According to the complaint, the government of India did not give Bangladesh the tax benefits provided for the Jharkhand center. Adani said that they had obeyed all the terms of the agreement with Bangladesh and they had no information that the agreement was being reviewed.
