The directive was issued following a letter sent by the Security Services Division (SSD) of the Home Ministry of Bangladesh. Bangladesh missions abroad have been urged to comply with the directive immediately.

The move comes after Bangladesh announced the suspension of visa services from one of its missions in Agartala, Tripura, where protesters breached the mission due to security lapses while protesting attacks on Hindu Bengalis and other minorities in Bangladesh.

The move came after Pakistan’s ambassador Syed Ahmed Maruf recently held a meeting with Sheikh Hasina’s rival Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chief Khaleda Zia.
