Salim Reza, Dhaka: 38 percent of the people of Bangladesh have not yet decided which party they will vote for when elections are held in Bangladesh. Of the remaining people, 16 percent said they would vote for BNP, 11 percent for Jamaat-e-Islami and 9 percent for the ousted Awami League. Apart from this, 3 percent of people said to vote for other Islamic parties and 1 percent for Jatiya Party.
40 percent of people (39 percent men, 44 percent women) will vote for a new political party created by Bangladeshi students. 44 percent of people (47 percent of men, 36 percent of women) said they would not vote.
Such a picture has emerged in the results of the second phase of the ‘Pulse Survey’ of Dhaka’s BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD). The results of this survey were released in an event at the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) in the capital Dhaka.

Sheikh Arman Tamim, research associate of the organization, presented the results of the survey in the event titled ‘Post-coup Bangladesh: What do people think’ organized by BIGD. In the survey, it was asked how the efforts of the interim government of Bangladesh are, how many points out of 100 they would give, 40 percent of the people gave the government 81 to 100 marks. 21 percent gave marks from 61 to 80, 19 percent gave marks from 41 to 60 and 7 percent gave marks from 21 to 40. 13 percent people gave the government zero to 20 marks.
However, 48 percent of people gave the government 81 to 100 marks last August. Looking at that calculation, it can be understood that the number of people who have the most confidence in the government’s efforts has decreased by 8 percent compared to before.
In the survey, opinions of 4 thousand 158 people of different classes and occupations of villages and cities were taken. 53 percent of them are men, 47 percent are women; 51 percent are rural and 49 percent are urban. In the survey, the people’s opinions were asked by asking questions about Bangladesh’s politics, economy, tenure of the interim government, ongoing problems, reforms, law and order situation. The survey was conducted from October 15 to 31. Earlier, the results of the first phase of BIGD’s pulse survey were released in September based on last August’s data.
