Salim Reza, Dhaka: Cox’s Bazar is crowded with millions of tourists. Tourists flocked to Cox’s Bazar beach in Bangladesh during the weekend and four consecutive days of vacation till December 16. More than five hundred hotels and motels are said to have no vacant rooms.

Many tourists are roaming around with luggage without getting a room. The hotel owners are expecting a business of hundreds of crores of rupees this season due to the expected arrival of tourists. They say, from Friday to December 17, there are no rooms available in the hotel-motel-guesthouse-resort. From 18th December to 25th December 10% rooms are vacant but after that 100% rooms are booked in advance till 31st night (31st December). The owners think that at least 7 lakh tourists will gather on the beach in the next 10 days.
President of Cox’s Bazar District Hotel Guesthouse Owners Association, Abul Kashem Sikdar Ji told 24 Hours Bangladesh correspondent on the telephone that although there has been some rush of tourists so far, tourists have increased in the month of December. As the annual examination in educational institutions is over, many people have come to Cox’s Bazar beach to spend this long vacation with their families. Our hotel rooms are almost 100% booking. Many tourists want rooms but I can’t give them.
Going to Sugandha Point in Cox’s Bazar, Kalatali Point, Sugandha Point and Labani Point on the beach are full of tourists. Apart from these three points, other points were crowded. Arriving tourists stand on the sandy beach, ride horses, ride water bikes and beach bikes to enjoy the sea view. Some tourists enjoy bathing in the salt water.
Tanveer Hossain, Executive Magistrate of Tourist Cell of Cox’s Bazar District of Bangladesh, said that Cox’s Bazar is busy with millions of tourists. We are ready to serve the incoming tourists. We are taking action if any tourist is harassed.
Tourist Police Cox’s Bazar Region Assistant Superintendent of Police Abul Kalam said, we are working for the safety of the tourists coming. Our patrols have been doubled.
