G 24 Hours Digital Bureau: Is Bangladesh becoming a dangerous place for journalists? This is the question raised by the international organization of journalists ‘Reporters Without Borders’. Bangladesh is on the list of dangerous countries for journalists in the world. Reporters Without Borders (Reporters Without Borders), an international organization working on the rights of journalists worldwide, has informed this information.

According to the report, 54 journalists died in the course of their professional duties in 2024. Which is highest in last five years. This is almost a record of journalist death! Five journalists lost their lives in Bangladesh!

The report, however, did not only point fingers at Bangladesh, it also mentioned Gaza. Palestine’s Gaza Strip is said to be the most dangerous place for journalists. 30 percent of all journalists killed in 2024 were killed in the occupied Gaza Strip by the Israeli army. Israeli forces have killed 145 journalists in Palestine since October 2023. Among them, 35 journalists were killed while gathering news.

Apart from that, one more information is frightening. In the last five years, more journalists have been killed in Palestine than in any other country. The massacre was described as an unprecedented bloodbath. Pakistan ranks second only to Palestine in the list of most dangerous countries for journalists in 2024. Seven journalists lost their lives there. The next two names on the list are Bangladesh and Mexico. Five journalists were killed in both countries. Besides, 95 journalists have gone missing in 2024.
