New Delhi: National Poet of Bangladesh Kaji Nazrul Islam received state recognition. From the date of Kazi Nazrul Islam’s arrival in Dhaka to be declared the national poet, the people of Bangladesh were expecting government recognition (Muhammad Yunus Government). Kazi Nazrul Islam was originally born in Asansol in Burdwan district of undivided India. Which is now West Burdwan district. From the date of his arrival in Bangladesh on May 24, 1972, the national poet of Bangladesh has been declared to be the Bengali.
The Ministry of Bangladesh issued a gazette notification and said, “In the advisory council meeting held in December, according to the approved proposal, Kazi Nazrul Islam has been declared the national poet of Bangladesh.” According to Bangladeshi newspaper Prothom Alo, poet Kazi Nazrul Islam moved to Dhaka from Kolkata with his family on May 24, 1972 with the help of the then government. At that time, he got the house of 330-B in Dhanmandi (No. 28 Road) of Dhaka as an allotment.
