Expressing concern, it has been said by the Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India,  Bangladesh Sammilit Sanatan Jagran Jot spokesperson Chinmaykrishna Das arrested and denied bail is being viewed with deep concern. There have been several attacks on Hindus and other minorities by extremist groups in Bangladesh. In addition to arson and looting of the homes and businesses of minorities, there have been several incidents of theft, vandalism, devastation and destruction of temples. In view of this strong message from India, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh has claimed,  ‘A section is trying to misrepresent the arrest of Chinmaykrishna Das.  We make it very clear that every Bangladeshi citizen has the right to practice his own religious practices and express his views without hindrance. It is the responsibility of the Government of Bangladesh to ensure the safety of every citizen, especially religious minorities.’  

They also said, ‘The Government of Bangladesh feels that such baseless statements not only misrepresent the facts, but also two It is contrary to the spirit of friendship and understanding between neighboring countries.’

When Chinmaykrishna Das was produced in a Chittagong court on Tuesday, the judge ordered him to be remanded in jail. After he left the court in protest, the fans blocked the prison van. The arrested monk gave a message to maintain peace from inside the prison van. 

What is to be seen now, will Muhammad Yunus’ government take measures to prevent attacks on minorities?
