Abdus Salam Pintu was arrested in the case of grenade attack on Hasina on 21 August 2008. In that case, in 2018, the judicial court sentenced 19 people including former state minister for home affairs Lutfuzzaman Babar, former deputy minister Abdus Salam Pintu to death and life imprisonment to 19 people including BNP acting chairman Tarek Rahman, Khaleda Zia’s political secretary Harish Chowdhury, BNP leader Kazi Shah Moazzem Hossain Kaykobad. Pintu and others were recently acquitted in the judgment of this case in the High Court. Pinchu is further accused of providing money to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir and Bangladeshi militants.
