The Directorate of Narcotics Control of Bangladesh is conducting a special investigation into the drug addiction of another popular face of Bangladesh’s Natangan, Tanjin Tisha and music artist Sunidhi Naik. A report on this has already been sent to the higher level of the Ministry of Home Affairs of Bangladesh.
According to sources, the names of Safa, Toya, Tisha and Sunidhi came out along with the information and evidence based on the interrogation of a student of private university of Dhaka who was arrested with drugs. They were regularly collecting drugs through a special WhatsApp group. The admin of that WhatsApp group, Arindam Roy Deep, a former student of Dhaka’s North South University, has already been arrested.
When asked about the incident, the investigating officer of the case, Assistant Director of the Narcotics Control Directorate of Bangladesh, Rahul Sen G told 24 Hours Bangladesh correspondent over the phone, “After the arrest of Arindam Roy Deep, we have received evidence of the drug addiction of some of the top actresses and models of Bangladesh.” The investigation is still going on. After the investigation, legal action will be taken against those concerned.
Bangladesh Narcotics Control Directorate says that Arindam Roy Deep, a former student of marketing department of North South University of Dhaka, is under special surveillance on allegations of drug involvement. Arindam Roy Deep was arrested at Dhaka Airport on October 17 following the continuation of his movements for a long time. At that time, a large amount of lead, MDMA, LSD and several drugs were recovered from him. Later, a specialized team of the Bangladesh Narcotics Control Directorate interrogated Arindam Roy Deep on 2-day remand.
Investigators said that at one stage of the oral confession about drug dealing, Arindam Roy Deep’s mobile phone call list and WhatsApp chats were checked. It contains information about the drug involvement of some popular actresses of Bangladesh. Even some specific WhatsApp chatting records related to drug orders placed by them are available.
An official of the Bangladesh Narcotics Control Directorate told G24H that there is evidence of ordering drugs regularly from several numbers saved in Arindam Roy Deep’s WhatsApp group in the names of Safa, Toya, Tisha and Sunidhi Naik. Later phone number registration records are collected to verify the numbers. It can be seen that the respective numbers are registered in the name of Safa Kabir and Toyar. However, Tanzin Tisha’s number is registered in the name of her mother Umm Salma.
Some more Bangladeshi actresses and musicians are available for chatting in this drug selling WhatsApp group. Among them are actress Tanjin Tisha and musician Sunidhi Naik. In chatting, Sunidhi Naik shared a packet of some brands of MDM and placed an order.
The Narcotics Control Directorate of Bangladesh says that Indian citizen Sunidhi Naik has been addicted to drugs for a long time. She is married to Shayan Chowdhury aka Arnav, a well-known music artist of Bangladesh and one of the founders of Coke Studio and is living permanently in Dhaka. But recently it is heard in various media that she has broken up with Arnav.
Investigators said that immediately after the arrest of Arindam Roy Deep, some of the people involved tried to delete the secret chat records from their mobile phones. But they were not completely successful in this. Immediately after the arrest, the Internet connection of Arindam Roy Deep’s mobile phone was disconnected. It was not possible to delete the chat records related to drug buying and selling.
According to sources, many of the children of wealthy families in Gulshan and Banani, the capital, are now turning to highly addictive drugs called MDM, LSD and Kush. These drugs are being smuggled from several other countries including Australia, USA, Canada and Thailand. These are sold in Slapchat, Messenger or WhatsApp groups.
