Allegedly, on November 10, Dhaka-Chittagong-Jeddah flight number BG 135 was operated by a female cabin crew. Muntasir and Abed were the operating pilots of the flight. Mid-flight they called the female cabin crew into the cockpit. At one stage of skill exchange, pilot Abed started a personal conversation with him. Later, finding him alone in front of the cockpit door, he also wants to force a handshake. There’s more. On November 12, BG236 Jeddah-Sylhet-Dhaka return flight, a female cabin crew had a ‘working position’ in the front. He has to go to the cockpit several times for this work. Then pilot Abed talks to him about Bengali grammar factors, samas, gender change under the pretense of telling a joke. At one point, Abed made lewd and obscene comments about transgenderism and metal. In addition, it is alleged that he made obscene gestures with dirty eyes. The female cabin crew complained of sexual harassment against pilot Abed in an email to the MD and CEO of Biman that night.
According to Biman Bangladesh Airlines, two female cabin crew were sexually harassed recently on Biman’s Dhaka-Chittagong-Jeddah and Jeddah-Sylhet-Dhaka and Dhaka-Muscat-Dhaka flights. Both of them filed a written complaint to Safiqur Rahman, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, seeking redressal. According to sources in the administration department of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, on November 14, a cabin crew in the flight service sub-department complained of sexual harassment and unprofessional behavior against a pilot along with the CEO of Biman.
